Research and Development: The Key to Success

Pomegranate Promotes Collagen
Verdure Sciences has a deep appreciation for the wisdom of nature. We strongly believe in the intrinsic synergy of medicinal plants that have been part of healthy living for thousands of years. Therefore, our focus is on the research and development of what we call 'natural-spectrum' extracts, which reflect the natural phytochemical profile of each plant.
We also believe in rigorously applying scientific validation to the wisdom of herbs and botanicals. An extensive research network of universities, medical centers and laboratories allows us to develop safe and efficacious ingredients for the worldwide health market.

Our pharmaceutical-type research approach begins with screening for safety, biological activity, and chemical characterization. Second, an evaluation is performed to determine the environmental impact of sourcing the botanical raw material, whether natural solvents such as water can be used for extraction, and how consistent the product can be made from batch to batch. Once a promising lead passes this stage, a battery of studies including clinical (human) research, safety studies, and development for various dose delivery applications are performed.

During this third stage of development, the emphasis is on human research. We not only want to see if something works for its intended purpose and whether it is safe, but we also want to know how an ingredient is absorbed into the body -- its bioavailability.

This proprietary research model has been used for Verdure's groundbreaking ingredients such as Pomella® Pomegranate Extract and Longvida® Optimized Curcumin.

Strong product development relies on constant innovation and improvement, along with validated, replicable testing methods and reference standards to ensure maximum activity and consistency.

VBATS™ (Verdure Botanical Active Testing System) is an advanced analytical program that enriches our understanding of Botanical Extracts by offering intimate analysis of their underlying Chemistry, Activity and Quality. Learn more
